Reasons E3 2010 Will Be Awesome

Sorry I have been away for so long but I needed a moment. Well, now I am back in all of my glory and I am going to start my relaunch by diving into this year's upcoming E3! As you all should know E3 2010 is almost upon us and in celebration I am listing the reasons why I along with everyone else should be tuning in! E3 will be incredible this year at least that is what I am hoping. E3 is the premiere event for the video game industry with a rush of new games, consoles, trailers, demos, booth babes, and announcements each year. I plan on hyping up something that truly deserves it. I'll be rolling out new picks every so often, so check back frequently, but feel free to share your hopes and dreams below in the comments. By the way this list is in no particular order!
  1. The Sony Press Conference Sony had the longest - and some could argue best - presser last year. Let's see if they can top it at E3 2010. GDC might have shown some of Move's moves, but how will it compete with Microsoft's Natal? Most of Sony's sleeping dogs, like God of War and Heavy Rain, have finally woken, so this is the time to dazzle us with the next wave of big games. What do you think will be there? Comment below! 2. Halo: Reach You digging that beta going on right now? What armor abilities do you like? Oh, did you see that live-action promo? Halo: Reach is having an easy time marketing itself, and we still haven't seen anything from the campaign! E3 2010 is going to be a big show for Halo: Reach, and quite possibly, Halo in general. Master Chief finished the fight - now how is Bungie going to kick-start this one? 3. Nintendo Press Conference Nintendo is notorious for telling us to wait until E3, and for better or worse, it always have some surprise up its sleeves. However, what we do know is juicy enough. The next Zelda will be make its full debut with MotionPlus swordplay. We'll see more adventures from Samus with Metroid: Other M. The next handheld, Nintendo's 3DS will be unveiled, and Nintendo will try to explain exactly why we'd want to stick our fingers in the Vitality Sensor that was briefly shown at last year's conference. 4. Respawn Entertainment It’s anyone’s guess as to what is currently fermenting over at Respawn Entertainment, a development studio mainly comprised of former Infinity Ward employees, including head honchos Jason West and Vince Zampella. Having already pocketed enough of our cash with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise, the new team, backed by Electronic Arts, could be making some sort of major announcement at E3. We know they’re hiring, but for what? 5. Call of Duty: Black Ops Treyarch’s manning the helm this year for the fabled Call of Duty series, and it's taking it into a new direction. The teaser for Black Ops hints at many new gameplay mechanics, though it's the setting that has us most excited. IS the Cold War finally heating up? After Treyarch's zombie Nazi invasion in Word at War, we're expecting an expansive list of multiplayer options as well. 6. Gears of War 3 The Gears of War 3 debut gave us our first look at a forlorn, unshaven, Delta Squad. With female cogs suiting up, the threat of mutant Lambent, and plenty of Locust drones to slay, the final chapter in this bloody trilogy refuses to go down without an all-out firefight to the finish. E3 is going to be the place where more of the story is revealed, and maybe some answers about the speculative water-based areas, as well as new weapons and features. Chainsaws to chainsaws, dust to dust. 7. Natal Software In 2009's Microsoft E3 press conference, Project Natal was the clear headliner. There’s no reason we should expect any different now. Last year was all about Natal’s potential, with all games like Ricochet, Paint Party, and Milo and Kate on show. This year, we’re expecting something more concrete, in the form of big games from big names. What’s EA got cooking for Natal? What about Epic? Bethesda? Square-Enix? We can’t wait to see. 8. Microsoft Press Conference You need to be an expert tea-leaf reader to predict some of the touchstones of Microsoft’s 2010 E3 press conference. A nice extended demo of Gears of War 3 is a given. Ditto with Fable III. We’ll probably also see some of Call of Duty: Black Ops. You can also bet that Natal software will factor in a big way—Microsoft is already promising a big show for the hardware. What surprises does this leave room for, though? Maybe an announcement pertaining to Respawn Entertainment? What about some news from Rockstar regarding a new Grand Theft Auto? The possibilities are endless. This list is going to go through several changes over the next couple of days so check back often to see some of my new additions!
